Bjørlykke locality nr 63: "A feldspar quarry worked on a granite pegmatite dike that outcropped at the southern slope of a hill 200 m W of Nedre Ljosland." (Bjørlykke 1934, p.232).
Large columbites up to 15 cm long has been found here.
It is not possible to locate this quarry on the altitude map. There is also an uncertainty regarding the exact location of both Ljosland 1 and Ljosland 2. The coordinates used in Mindat are for the Corneliussen locality.
Note on the coordinates by Ronald Werner:
For anyone interested, I give below the coordinates as exact as possible from the descriptions in both Bjørlykke (1934) and Stensrud (2009 + map on p. 51) and additionally the coordinates of two localities from Andreas Corneliussen at http://www.pegmatite.no. One of them, mine E, he calls the Ljosland mica quarry (Ljosland glimmergruve).
A-E refers to points on a map I made over this area where the quarries are supposed to be located (Anyone interested can request a PDF copy of the map from the Evje og Hornnes geomuseum Fennefoss).
Bjørlykke (1934)
A = 200 m W of Nedre Ljosland = Ljosland 1
58.486971,7.933824
B = 50 m N of Ljosland 1 = Ljosland 2
58.487430,7.933770
Stensrud (2009)
C = Ljosland 1- 58.48665,7.93139
D = Ljosland 2 - 58.48775,7.92953
Corneliussen at www.pegmatite.no:
E = Ljosland glimmergruve 135 m SW of Nedre Ljosland - 58.48639,7.93535
At the location of the pinpoint, Corneliussen places another quarry, invisible on the altitude map: 58.48699,7.93474.
This suggests that what the quarry Corneliussen names as the Ljosland glimmergruve actually might be Ljosland 1,and that Ljosland 2 is situated at the location of the pin. And the conclusion would then be that Bjørlykke (1934) was inaccurate, since Ljosland glimmergruve (Ljosland 1?) is as said above only 135 m SW of the farm, and Ljosland 2 is 70 m NNW of the farm.
Stensrud (2009) would then be completely off by placing on his map on p. 51 Ljosland 1 450 m W of the farm.
There is a huge difference between Bjørlykke and Stensrud.
The coordinates used in Mindat are for the Corneliussen locality.
