A former small surface and underground Cu-Ag-U mine located in the center of sec. 31, T.14S., R.3E. (protracted), or sec. 36, T.14S., R.2E. (Quijotoa Mts 15 minute topo map), at the Quijotoa Trading Post along Arizona highway 89, about 2 miles East of Quijotoa. Produced 1948-1953. Owned by Andrade; Cooley; and, Luper.
Mineralization is spotty and weak copper carbonates, minor chalcocite and traces of uranium minerals with quartz, calcite, hematite and limonite in a fault zone breccia and gouge cutting altered Tertiary volcanics (andesite). The fault zone strikes N.50ºE. and dips 30ºNW and is 6 to 36 inches (15 to 90 cm) wide. Stockpile sample 0.12% EU3O8 , 2 chip samples from the ore body gave 0.76 and 1.40% U3O8.
Workings include a 110 foot (33.53 meter) deep shaft that is inclined 30ºNW, adit, and 4 prospect pits with some 60 to 100 tons of 5% Cu and 1 oz. Ag/T produced intermittently in the late 1940's and early 1950's.
