A Au-Ag occurrence/mine located about 2 miles North of the Dixie Queen Mine on the western slopes of the Black Mountains. Started about 1900. Circa 1988, the Combined Metals Reduction Company was developing a plan to extract 20,000 troy ounces Au via an open-pit heap-leaching operation. This locality is not listed in the USGS MRDS database.
The Klondyke mine, about 2 miles north of the Dixie Queen, was operated about 1900. Mr. Householder states that about 4,500 tons of ore from the property were treated in the Klondyke amalgamation mill, at the Colorado River, and later the tailings were treated by cyanidation.
Produced some 4,500 tons of ore.
