A former lode Au mine located in secs. 10 & 11, T5N, R13E, MDM, about 5.35 km about 2½ miles) S of Railroad Flat, on the divide between Esperanza Creek and Jack Nelson Creek on the McGary Ranch. Discovered in 1875. Operated in 1881 and around 1900 and 1924-1925. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist and slate. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 64.01 meters and comprised of shafts and drifts.
No production record found.
Around 1900 and 1924 to 1925 considerable ore was stoped and milled. Worked ceased in 1925 when the surface plant burned down.
