A former lode Au mine located in sec. 24, T3N, R12E, MDM, 3.9 km (2.4 miles) ESE of Jesus Maria, along Wet Gulch. Property was 21 acres. Operated in the 1930's and many years before that. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: Both USGS MRDS files present essentially the same coordinates for this locality and state that it is in the same section (T&R); however, MRDS file #10028838 states that it is 3 miles NE of Angels Camp and on the Mother Lode. All other data place it far to the NW of Angels Camp and clearly in the East Belt. The other Garibaldi Mine in Calaveras County is located near Glencoe so there is no inadvertent mixing of data between these 2 locations.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenstone. The ore body is 76.2 meters wide. The vein zone is as much as 250 feet wide, on the Mother Lode (?? - doubtful). Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shallow shaft and a 400 foot crosscut adit.
No production record found.
