A former lode Au mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 34, T6N, R12E, MDM, 0.6 km (0.4 mile) SSW of Rich Gulch (town), along Rich Gulch (gulch) (about 6 miles NE of Mokelumne Hill [town]). Operted prior to and during the 1920's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. The deposit is comprised of a number of veins which have a strike that varies from W to NW. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of prospect trenches, open cuts and adits.
