One of at least three kyanite-bearing pegmatites near the Blue Ridge Parkway, north of Asheville, North
Carolina. The locations are significant in being confirmed magmatic occurrences of kyanite, possibly unique in the world. Tourmaline from this locality is analytically confirmed as dravite, although the cores of some crystals consist of schorl.
