A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 29, T27S, R40E, MDM, about 8.3 km SSW of Ridgecrest, WSW of Cerro Coso Junior College. The property is comprised of 2 claims. Owned by P. R. Light and C. F. Walker, Inyo, Kern, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body has small, lenticular masses, strikes N70E, dips 60NW at a thickness of 1.83 meters. The vein has well-defined walls, 6 feet apart with about 6 inches (15 cm) of quartz on the hanging wall side, 12 to 18 inches (30 to 45 cm) on the footwall, with brecciated granitic rock in between. 50 feet N is a parallel vein that accompanies a felsic dike. The vein is a few inches to 2 feet thick. Gangue minerals include quartz and pyrite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 13.72 meters and comprised of a 30-foot shaft with a 25-foot drift on the 20-foot level. A 45-foot shaft was sunk on the other vein (along the dike).
