A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ (estimated) sec. 7, T12N, R8E, MDM, about 2.3 km NNW of Ophir, W of Bald Hill and N of Doty Ravine (2½ miles N of Newcastle), on a lode claim. Owned by J. E. Walsh (1935). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
