A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the N½SW¼ sec. 12, T12N, R7E, and in sec. 7, T12N, R8E, MDM, 2.8 km (1.7 mile) E of Gold Hill and 2.9 km (1.8 miles) WNW of Ophir, on the S margin of Doty Flat (2 miles NW of Newcastle). The property is comprised of 28 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
