A former Mn-silica occurrence/mine located in the center SW¼SW¼ sec. 21, T6S, R5E, MDM, about 6.7 km NNW of Black Mountain (summit), along a W-flowing tributary of Beauregard Creek, near the Stanislaus County line, on private land (fee ownership). Discovered in 1940. Owned by P.N. & Lois Stadtler (100%), Hilmar, California (1975). First produced in 1941. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: Prospects within this group lie over the county line in Stanislaus County line, which files should be consulted.
The ore body strikes N40E and dips 35N at a thickness of 8 meters, width of 10 meters and length of 40 meters. Ore body No. 1 is sedimentary and lenticular. Ore body No. 2 is stockwork. Ore body No. 3 is disseminated. The primary mode of origin was sedimentation and the secondary mode was oxidation. Primary ore control was bedding and the secondary control was faulting. There is no wallrock alteration. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange.
Workings include surface and underground openings.
