An iron mine opened in 1906 by the Mineral Mining Co. It was bought by James Mining Co. in 1925 and operated by Pickands-Mather. By closure in 1954, the mine had shipped 8.3 million tons of ore. The mine featured two shafts and five main levels to 860 feet depth. Workings were joined with the Davidson Mines and with the Wauseca Mine.
The property description is N1/2-NE Sec. 23 T43N-R35W, which is the 80 acres between N46ΒΊ6'45", N46ΒΊ6'59", W88ΒΊ38'15", and W88ΒΊ38'52".
