I began collecting minerals while still at school in the North of England. Graduated in Mining Geology from Leeds University in 1977 and went to work on the Zambian Copperbelt, there followed a PhD in Economic Geology before returning to Zambia for a further four years. Thereafter I joined a multinational and travelled extensively.
My collection is focused on areas I have lived namely the UK, Central Africa, China and mainland Europe. Having recently returned to Ireland my aim is to slowly build a collection of Irish material. Aesthetics mean these geographic limits are frequently extended! A second aim is to more vigorously review material collected over the years and be more systematic in my collecting.
