Leonor in the mineralogical room
In this room there are predominantly Portuguese mineral specimens.

These specimens were collected during the search for mineral resources in various parts of the country. Although the collection also includes specimens from other countries.

This collection started with the work of Amilcar de Jesús, Alfredo Bensaúde and Sousa Brandão. The exhibition includes a set of national and international minerals among which stand out the large crystals from the Panasqueira mine as well as specimens from the Neves Corvo mine.

Equally interesting are the specimens of Portuguese fossil fuels, coal and petroleum, and radioactive minerals used in the extraction of uranium.

Please be aware that this is a geological museum and its specimens were in first instance adquired or collected for study purposes.
