Southeastern New Hampshire Mineral Club

History

The Southeastern New Hampshire Mineral Club was organized in October 1959, and has been, since its inception, a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical & Lapidary Societies and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

Purpose

Education of its members and the general public through discussions, lectures, classes in schools and public meetings, as well as laboratories and field trips, in the subject of mineralogy, archaeology, paleontology, mining, mineral collecting, lapidary work and allied subjects.
Stimulation of interest and appreciation of the natural resources of New Hampshire and adjacent areas.
Assembling a permanent collection of minerals of New Hampshire.
Assisting and encouraging the members and general public in obtaining information on various phases of mineral collecting.
Learning of newly discovered or reopened mineral deposits which would benefit various educational, recreational and resource conservation, etc., activities such as collecting, mine operations, lapidary work, school, art and craft institutions, and museums.
Discouraging unscrupulous practices in all these activities whether of a personal or an organizational nature by creating a mutual understanding between collectors and mining companies whereby both groups will help each other and educate the public in the values, aesthetic, economic and practical, of their natural resources.
Meetings

Most meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month (except July and August), unless notified otherwise at the following location:

St. John's Church
28 Cataract Avenue
Dover, NH

The public is welcome to attend a meeting and learn about Joining SENHMC.

ALWAYS Check our CALENDAR for updated information on Field Trips, Meetings or other Events.
