LocalitiesLakeview Limestone (Lakeview), Lakeview Mining District, Bonner County, Idaho, USA

I have some digital photographs of the Lakeview Limestone Properties on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho. She has graciously consented to the photographs being used by Mindat but the photographer would prefer to have those photos remain copyrighted to her. I can't seem to figure out how to upload a photo and copyright it to another. I am sure it is pretty simple but any help would be appreciated.

Anyone have any input? I may need help from an Admin for this one

Being photographically incompetent, others have kindly photoed stuff for me, so I'm uploading and changing the copyright. I believe there's an option to assign copyright to the photo. It comes up with the last person, but typing in the new name will assign them the copyright. There's also a drop down for writing the copyright on the photo. I think it also remembers the last copyright but by typing a new name changes it. What am I missing?.

Thanks Rob. I will try that. Sometimes I am a little afraid to try something for fear I will mess it up and make more work for the admins to deal with.

Rob,

There is a drop down for copyright, but the selections are only for the person inputting the photo or for common use photos. There is no option to input another name in the copyright box. This seems to me to be a glitch in the system. I think that the option to input another name into the copyright box is a good thing and I wish it were possible alas it doesn't seem to be. I am hoping someone can add more information here since it would be extremely unfortunate if site photos taken by 'non-mineral' persons couldn't be put into the database due to something as small as this.

The field labelled "Copyright Notice:" allows you to put in whatever copyright assignment you wish for the photo.

Doug, I’ve uploaded several photos to Mindat after asking permission to do so. This is what I usually do in this case:

The example I will use is photograph 753296 ( https://www.mindat.org/photo-753296.html ), it’s a Hansa Jet that had been placed in the old “Portage Quarry” in Wood County, Ohio. (Note: It is not the same quarry as the Stoneco/Shelley Quarry that produced the large celestine crystals during the past few decades). This quarry was open to scuba divers many years back and I asked the former owner of the site if I could upload photos which he gave me permission to do so. This example was taken by scuba diver Shawn Taylor at Portage, about a year after they sunk the jet.

1. When I upload the photograph the second line says “Copyright Notice”. This is where you type the contributor’s name. I will pretend to re-upload the photograph. Obviously this is the last step after inputting all the other relevant information above:

2. The result should look like this, note the bottom says "Copyright Shawn Taylor":

3.I also give credit in the description of my photos as well. See the screenshot below (you can also see the copyright notice above too):

Hope this helps and gives you an idea of what your looking for. Can't wait to see that photographs!
