Monitoring the mineral name on the web via google at last gave a hit on an Iranian website.

Hmmmm!!!

Found this locality for ludlockite on mindat. "Zarehehuran, Takap, Takht-e-Suleiman massif, Azerbaijan" with a rruff website reference.

In the forthcoming paper describing daliranite we refer to material now known to be daliranite and collected in the 1970s as having been described as ludlockite at that time. The type locality for daliranite is Zarshouran, Takab, Province of West Azerbaijan, Iran.

Still awaiting e-print.

The only Ludlockite at RRUFF is an unconfirmed Tsumeb sample. So if it was there maybe they pulled it. I looked at the Mindat reference but couldn't copy or paste it. It is to a document and not to a RRUFF sample. Uwe entered it so maybe he can comment.

I didn't enter anything at least as far as I remember (there is a bug assigning entries to wrong managers).

Yes there is or at least there was a few years ago. At the time I mentioned it, but thought nothing of it as there were so few of us entering things. Now it is crucial that we keep a good track of things. I'll see if I can track down the RRUFF reference and try to fix this.

Cute!!! The Mindat entry was made a year ago and the RRUFF reference was to the 2001-2005 Mineral Data Publishing, version 1 page on Ludlockite. (They missed Ludlockite in the Handbook), So I am assuming that the Two localities are the same and will enter the new name as the type locality for Daliranite with a note to this thread etc.

Chris if you send me a copy of the article I'll add it in with the associates etc. Thanks.

Hello,

I own one of this "Ludlockite" from Iran. When I receive the specimen two years ago it was clear for me it can be not Ludlockite (and I known since one year it is this new species). Anywhere the old lable beside say "acquire in 1982 from Dr. Wilke". So far I know Dr. Wilke was on collecting trips in Iran.

I have also material from the Wilke Trip to Iran in the 80s.

Found some orange hairy material and also some other looking like Wakabayashilite, all with Orpiment and Getchellite, from Zareshuran.

Can that also be Daliranite?

Wakabayashilite should be more yellow, but there are some pretty orange photos, like yours, of Wakabayashilite from Jas Roux and Krygistan posted here.

Visually mine (I checked chemistry on them) look very much like the first two photographs-very fibrous. I will try taking a photograph but I am pretty terrible at that. EDS will definitely tell what it is...

This mineral occurs in very small amounts. Discovery of new material would be by close observation (chance).

I have a tiny piece from type material given me by RSW Braithwaite last year. The photos are taken at approx x20 and x100 using my old Beck binocular with an EM-130M scope camera and are stacks from 10 and 5 photos respectively assembled with Combine ZP. They are not as good as I would like, but they give an idea...
