Best bet would be Waller's solution (sodium citrate + sodium bicarbonate + sodium dithionite/"hydrosulfite"), which is near-neutral or mildly alkaline pH and very effectively reduces insoluble Fe3+ and Mn4+ to soluble cations, which are kept in solution by the citrate. Somewhat sulfur-smelly but not very corrosive to silicates, phosphates, etc.

I really should have said Manganese Oxide instead of just Manganese, it's just that the keys on these iphones aren't made for big fingers and try to get out of if as much as I can ;-)
