Field CollectingLost Mine (of Miller Property)
20th Jun 2016 22:24 UTCSean
my vacation is about to start very soon. Our plans for this year is to go to variety of mineral locations like the Miller Property. I heard recently that there's another "location" called the Lost Mine. Someone on the internet told me about this place and I've also researched it myself (and I found this http://www.davidkjoyceminerals.com/pagefiles/activities_gallery.asp?TitleID=642&refpage=activities). Now for days, I'm trying to find information on where to find this spot. Does anyone know where I can find it? If so, please tell me (or better, send me a GPS coordinates) because I really would like to go.

I think your vacation will be a memorable one. By what I have read, you plan on visiting Bancroft Ontario and surrounding area and you will find that the area has much to offer in terms of mineral occurrences, collecting areas and a vast area to explore and experience. Remember some areas will be private property, some will charge a fee to collect or visit, and some places may require permission. In terms of finding the "lost Mine", try searching this site under advanced search then type "Lost Mine" in the locality search field. Hopefully you will find something about this site.
As for visiting sites in the Bancroft Area, we all have our favorite places.
If you search Mindat for localities to visit while you are in the area, try searching on the county or district level. For example if you type "Haliburton County" into the locality search field I mentioned earlier, you will find all localities listed in the database, the Miller property should be one of them.
The Bancroft Area is a large area taking in Haliburton County, Hastings county, Renfrew County and Lanark County. Many of the most popular mineral sites should be found under these headings.
I'm sure you will find lots of advice here from friendly people who have a passion for minerals and collecting in this area your interested in.
Plan well, be safe out there and have a great time. Take lots of pics and keep us updated later on down the road.
I have visited the Bancroft area 3 times now and would still love to go back again. I'm sure I will, its just a matter of time.
Best of luck Nthingu.
Lloyd.
