Has anyone seen this very distinctive specimen? Missing from its case in my very secure rock room, a place of limited access, very puzzling how it could disappear. May not have been a recent event, the barites are in a darker area of the room, to preserve color.

Ouch!

Should have noted that the photo is a detail of the piece, overall is 18.5 cm long. Had I planned to sell it, would have likely trimmed to 12 cm or so, to highlight the zoned barites. The base of the specimen in drusy quartz over drusy pale green fluorite.

Will keep an eye out as folks tend to bring me barites to try and sell since I mine them...

Thanks, AJ, the more eyes out there the better.

Many thanks to all who PM'd me. The specimen has been located and the perpetrator identified.

Bob:

That's excellent that the specimen was found! I hope it wasn't damage. It always disheartens me when I hear about mineral thefts.
