GeneralEntry level geology work in Texas

8th Aug 2012 05:32 UTCMatthew Barrand

Hello everybody,

I recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a B.Sc (Geology). Once again I find myself in a position where advise and assistance from you all would be massively helpful and appreciated. I am looking for entry level geology work in Fort Worth, Texas or as close to as possible. There seams to be a few advertised positions online for geologists but all seam to require 3+ years of experience. I am hoping that somebody here might know somebody looking to take on a new geologist or know of a great website for new geologists. Im excited to see what the future has in store.

Im looking forward to hearing back from you and I appreciate everything that this site has done for me over the past few years.

Thanks

Matt

Matthew,

I'm not sure about in the DFW area, but here in Houston many of the petrochemical companies and associated firms are usually looking for bright new geoscientists to work for them. Also, you may want to check with any of the companies associated with the Eagle Ford Shale activities in the state as they are currently hiring geo folks. I would say check the individual company websites and the websites of the local newspapers in the area under "Jobs" or "Employment". If you'd be willing to work in or around Houston, I may be able to ask around and see what is available as well....

Good luck in your search!!

Hey Paul,

Thank you for your advise I really appreciate it. I have been looking into companies and at employment websites like you said for jobs that I would be suited for and sending a lot of emails. At the mement I have only focused on the fort worth area but after a week or so I will start to expand my radius. When I get up to looking for work in Houston I will be sure to let you know. Thank you for being so willing to help me out.

Matt
