Improving Mindat.orgLabuntsovite Subgroup

26th Sep 2016 14:05 UTCRobert Rothenberg

On the page for “Labuntsovite Subgroup,” there is a section labeled: “Relationship of Labuntsovite Subgroup to other Species.” The next line reads: “Member of: Labuntsovite Supergroup.” The next section is captioned: “Other Members of the Group,” listing Gutkovite Group and others. The next section is captioned: “Group Members:” and lists the three labuntsovite species. I think this is somewhat confusing, since both captions refer to members of a “group.” I believe the first section should be captioned: “Other Members of the Supergroup.” This would be clearer. The second section could then remain as “Group Members.”

The same situation exists on each of the other pages of the Supergroup members (Gutkovaite Group, Kuzmenkoite Group, Lemmleinite Group, Nenadkevichite Group, Organovite Group, Paralabuntsovite Group, Paratsepinite Group, and Vuoriyarvite Group).

Thanks for seeing this. It was a mistake and thus confusing.

It's fixed now. ( An old entry "Labuntsovite Group" was set as synonym to Labuntsovite Supergroup that needed to be fixed, and the entry "Labuntsovite subgroup" renamed as Labuntsovite Groups)

Even if I fixed some that need to be fixed, so it is less confusing, you will still see ( at the Labuntsovite Group, http://www.mindat.org/min-46932.html)

the same threefold hierarchy:

Member of: Labuntsovite Supergroup
Other Members of Group: (Listing groups of the supergroups)
Group Members:

In this case I agree that ideally it should read "Other Members of the Supergroup" in the second line. But this is how the database is made, and I do not know if it is possible to change that.
