The Harp was one of the original four leases taken up by Doherty and Garland, who discovered gold at Eastern Creek in 1908.
Gibb-Maitland states ore was taken from an open cut on a reef outcropping on the northern slope of a hill.
Thomas Masterson is reported to have crushed 20 tonnes for 24.5 ounces from the lease in 1924. Another report from him occurs in 1923, stating a rich body of ore had been discovered.
