Melkovite from
Fitzgerald River District, Ravensthorpe Shire, Western Australia, Australia

Locality type:Mining District
Classification
Species:Melkovite
Formula:[Ca2(H2O)15Ca(H2O)6][Mo8P2Fe33+O36(OH)]
Comments:The EMPA analysis given for the mineral described by Birch et al. (2002) as "mendozavilite" from the Fitzgerald River district corresponds to melkovite, according to the new nomenclature of the Betpakdalite Supergroup (Kampf et al. 2012). In composition it is relatively close to the hypotetical member of mendozavilite group (not described), mendozavilite-NaCa.
