Cobaltomenite from
El Dragón mine, Porco Municipality, Antonio Quijarro Province, Potosí, Bolivia

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Cobaltomenite
Formula:CoSeO3 · 2H2O
Formation:Secondary
Comments:New analysis done in 2021 (SEM, EDAX) by Joy Desor from a specimen in the collection of Elmar Lackner.
Analytical data shows a Co:Ni ratio of approx 3:1 confirming Cobaltomenite.

Notice the old entry because the similarity to Ahlfieldite:
Much of the material called "cobaltomenite" from El Dragon was identified only by XRD and is really pink cobalt-bearing ahlfeldite. Color is a very unreliable guide, as it takes only a minor amount of Co to change the color from green to pink or purple.
Confirmation
Validity:Believed Valid
