Natropyrochlore from
Emmelberg, Üdersdorf, Daun, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Locality type:Quarry
Classification
Species:'Natropyrochlore' (not an IMA approved species)
Comments:Listed as "(Oxy?/Hydroxy?/Hydro?)-Natropyrochlore". While researching a number of pyrochlore minerals, a dark red "pyrochlore" crystal from the Emmelberg found by G. Blaß was also examined. Unfortunately, it turned out to be impossible to determine the occupancy at the Y position, which is necessary for a complete species identification. The sum of cation valences identified ratios of 9.4, which is considerably below the limit of 13.5, above which an oxy-pyrochlore would be represented. Hardly any fluorine could be determined, and the presence of H2O, O, and OH could not be quantitatively determined at all. For this reason, the species could not be clearly identified according to the new nomenclature.
