How to ContributeHow to add a Mineral in a Locality???

12th Jun 2015 18:47 UTCMario Lazzerini Denchi 🌟

Hi Everybody,

I have already posted the question in the General page, however I did not have any answer.

I am trying to load some photos of a Smoky Quartz sample in a Locality where Quartz is not listed (Bao Loc, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam).

I also would like to upload some photos of Basalt sample with Olivine Xenolith in another Vietnam Locality (Xuan Loc, Dong Nhai), however neither Basalt nor Olivine are listed for such locality

How can I add a mineral in a Locality???

Thanks a lot and regards.

Other photo - rock

If you cannot pick the mineral from the quick pick list, you can type in the mineral name in the white box (1) below the quick pick list. You then have to pick the mineral from a drop down list after you click the "Find" button after the box.

Hello Mario,

1) log in

2) go to the locality page

3) click "Edit"

4) click "Add minerals"

5) fill out the form, with references (if no literature reference, then write how was the mineral identified, and by who)

6) click "Submit"

7) wait a while for the addition to be approved by an administrator

You can't add "Basalt" because we do not (yet) have a format for adding rock types, but you can add the smoky quartz and olivine.

Thanks!

I have been trying to added quartz, epidote, chlorite, specularite, albite to the "chemin du lac" road cut, Ste-Anne du Lac, Adstock QC. I see minerals I wanted to add on the top left of the add mineral form, but the never appeared on the public page. I tried checking the boxes and verifiying them by my person visual id. Am I doing something wrong?

They have to go through an approval stage before they appear at the locality.
