LocalitiesTeeter Quarry (Teeters Quarry; Valley Quarry; John S. Teeter and Sons Co. Quarry; Gettysburg Quarry; H.T. Campbell's Teeter's Quarry), Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania, USA

18th Nov 2016 14:45 UTCAlfred L. Ostrander

I recently noted that the locality page uses Teeters and Teeter's to refer to this quarry. I had always thought the correct name as found in many state records was the John S. Teeter and Sons Co. Quarry. Often this was shortened to just the Teeter Quarry. I did find an article in the Friends of Mineralogy Pennsylvania Chapter Newsletter v31, n3, fall of 2003. On page 6 an article written by John D Teeter, son of John S Teeter calls it the Teeter Quarry. Considering all this, should the correction be made that the best name is Teeter Quarry?

Best Regards,

Al O
