Identity HelpUnknowns on Agardite-Ce from Clara Mine,Oberwolfach

1st Nov 2009 00:14 UTCVik Vanrusselt Expert

Hi all,

now I know these will not be the best pics in the world (I already know I need a new camera/scope to take better pics, please stop pointing it out to me...) but i have a few guesses:

1) Dark brown: Bariopharmacosiderite? Light brown: (Pharmaco)Siderite?

2) Dark grey: absolutely no idea, only thing i can tell u is that it changes to reddish/rusty at another angle (probably reflecting color of the supposed Bariopharmacosiderite)

3) Light green: Agardite-Ce (the only species mentioned on the label), Dark Green: Malachite or Cornwallite?

Matrix I think is Baryte. No testing done on this one since the different crystals are WAY too small to do any...

1) and 2) : impossible to tell from photos.

3) Both malachite and cornwallite are possible. You might want to try an acid test.
