Identity HelpCelestine from an unknown locality

10th Aug 2010 17:42 UTCAlf Olav Larsen

I purchased this celestine sample (6 cm wide) at a local mineral show, but there was no label attached. The crystals are developed as orthorhombic prisms with flat terminations. The colour is white, but individual crystals have colourless cores. Does anyone recognize this celestine and its location? Thank you.

As you may have noticed from looking at some of the pictures from this location, the white is strontianite partially replacing the celestine.

Hi fellows,

Of course, it's from Ohio. Thank you!

And I will second Kelly's observation that the white on the surface is strontianite.
