Can someone tell me where to find the instructions or how to put a picture in an artical that is not on Mindat?

I found this via the homepage under the 'Members Articles' link on the left side.

Hi Danny, When you hit the Attach a file (photo) link it will send you through to an area on your computer that will allow you to select where you would like to get the photo from, it's that simple.

Why not just upload it to mindat?

We don't generally allow external photos in articles - because at some time in the future these photos may not be available any more and then the article will break.

Alternatively, a troublemaker could place an innocent photo on their server, link to it in a mindat article. We could then approve the article, and they could then change the photo to something offensive - and we would have no way of knowing it had been changed unless we went and checked every article every day.

So, we only allow photos that are shared on mindat to be used in articles.
