GeneralChuck Borland - RIP

5th Nov 2013 14:29 UTCTom Tucker

Chuck Borland, veteran Montana mineral collector and dealer (Quartz Connection) passed away November 4, at his home in Bozeman, after a short bout with cancer. Chuck was a co-founder of the Montana Crystal Collectors, and had attended their recent annual gathering in Butte just a few weeks ago. For several decades he was an active field collector in the Boulder Batholith, and had a special interest in quartz crystals. Recently he'd spent a month each summer helping Joe Dorris mine his amazonite-quartz claims in Colorado. Chuck was retired from teaching earth science in the local Middle School. He enjoyed all aspects of the mineral sciences, and shared his passion with innumerable friends in the collecting community. Arrangements for services are pending.
