Identity HelpRyerson Hill, Paris, Maine ID help
31st Dec 2014 23:56 UTCDick Dionne Expert
I have an idea on what it might be but my ID skills are poor at best.
Among the secondary phosphates from here, vivianite, ludlamite, whitmoreite, rockbridgeite.....
See the mineral list for Ryerson Hill here - http://www.mindat.org/loc-6101.html
I apologize for the poor quality of the photo
This was a hard one for me.
the matrix is quartz and apatite, likely fluorapatite.
The crystal is clear,
I believe the color in the photo is reflected off of the yellowish apatite clusters that line the vug.
A twinning plane is visible in this image.
fov 1.6mm
In this image, with a little more light and slightly sharper,
It gives the illusion that twinning is on the surface but that is not so.
It is actually a flat surface and the twinning plane is viewed through that surface.
(I hope I'm making myself clear on that)
fov 1.6mm
I have intentionally not included my tentative ID
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated
Thanks & Happy New Year!

Although not what I had in mind, I will check out your suggestions.
