Anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be? Thank you.

HI Reiner,

Since conichalcite doesn't seem to be listed for the area, what about strashmirite or some other copper arsenate with Ca-bearing impurity blended in? Perhaps a candidate for Raman, if there is not enough material for XRD?

Cheers,

Tyrolite?

Hello Jolyon,

That is what I thought at first but the habit is totally different from the other tyrolite from there and the white margins are a puzzle. Assuming it is tyrolite do you have any thoughts on why these are always surrounded by a white margin that looks crystalline whereas the interiors always look massive? Will post a picture of the entire sample later.

Hello Joel,

I think it will come down to RAMAN, not enough for XRD.

A white margin could just be due to a physically more finely divided flaky state. I've seen the same phenomenon in chlorite spherules, where white and green zones showed no obvious difference in chemical composition.

Hello Alfredo,

Thanks that makes sense.
