LocalitiesDiep River meteorite, City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality, Western Cape, South Africa

How likely is it that the co-ordinates -33.75,18.56 imported from elsewhere for this meteorite are wrong? They place the fall in the Cape Winelands close to Dieprivier but that's not the same as Diep River, Cape Town -34.034486, 18.463982.

In this link to the Meteoritical Bulletin Database https://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/metbull.php?code=7642 at the bottom under synonymns is Constantia a suburb next to Diep River. I also found history of the fall on a real estate website https://www.greeff.co.za/area-profiles/diep-river/ the second paragraph mentions it. I didn't find anything on the web for Heritage Farm, Diep River.

There is a specimen in the Cape Town musuem but no contact email details on the website. Can anyone help with this or any other related information please.

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Debbie

Ronnie McKenzie is Mr Meteorite of South Africa. Do a search on him in the mean time , I will try and dig up his email address for you tonight.

Thank you David, those links gave evidence to support my belief the co-ordinates are wrong even though they are what is quoted in the Catologue of Meteorites reference book, as far as I know there is only one Constantia and I did live exactly there :-) in CT.

Kevin thank you, sent you a pm.
