I'm unaware of dioptase being found in the Orange River area, the specimen is probably from Kaokoveld, in my opinion.

This specimen caught my eye too.   I've never seen anything like it, and don't know where it's from, but I like it!

This photo has intrigued many collectors worldwide along with many conversations and evidence is stacking up that it comes from Kaokoveld area as (similar?) specimens are coming out that are "hematoid quartz with nice long double terminated spearhead Dioptases, like the ones in the pic, along with nice orange Wulfenite crystals, some Cerusite, Dufftite and Motrammite", as described to me in a private communication.

Although there are many copper deposits in Namibia one has yet to be found in Karas Region and the possibility of this being a very new find has not been ruled out.

Any further news on this specimen, coming out of Tucson?

Looks likely to be from Christoph mine, many thanks to all who helped pin this down.

Hi Debbie,
I see you beat me to it.
This is what I received  from Kakamas today.
The Dioptase on red quartz is not from the Orange River, but from Namibia, it was mined by a guy from Colorado,  from an old mine named Christoph Mine, Kaokoveld Kunene district,
