GeneralAdding video

5th Aug 2020 20:41 UTCErik Vercammen Expert

I didn't find instructions for the upload of a video in the manual. Did I overlook something? or how should I proceed?

Erik

There is nothing in the Manual yet. So you didn't overlook that.

When you created this thread or in any message response there is a bar that says "Click here to add a photo or video" - - simply click on that and attach your video.

It needs to be in MP4 format.

Apparently if the bar only says "Click here to add a photo" then you'll need to do a hard reset to reload the javascript files so that it changes to "Click here to add a photo or video".

I've never uploaded a video so don't know of there is anything else that needs to be done.

Thanks Keith. I'll give it a try this evening (Belgian time)

When uploading a video to the galleries you again just upload it as if it were a photo.

Currently MP4 is the only supported format, but we are working on supporting more formats.

I tried, but was blocked  for the system ask for dimensions of the specien and for the type of photo (can video added to that list?)

Erik, you'll still have to give the dimensions of the specimen (if that's what's in the video).

The type of photo will depend on if you select rock/mineral/fossil specimen, locality photo, or other.   Select which best fits what's in the video.   It shouldn't matter if you want to load a video or photo.

Kevin, the video is a compilation of several small film fragments, showing pictures of the mine, activities, peolpe working etc.

Thanks Erik.   I would probably pick "locality photo" as the category, then  one of the "site photos" or "other documentation" (whichever you think is the best fit) for the "type of photo".

Kevin, this was indeed the right recipe. Thanks for the help.
