Improving Mindat.orgVery unlikely Goyazite

7th Apr 2022 23:39 UTCBen Grguric Expert

Why is this photo https://www.mindat.org/photo-422454.html still listed under Myponga? It bears no resemblance to the beach platform goyazite nodules from Myponga.
There is no other documented occurrence of goyazite in the Myponga area.

Ben
I am not familiar enough with this mineral but doesn't appear to resemble the stated description.

Not possible to contact uploader as she has passed.

Have moved the photos to user only for now.

What happened to her collection? Museum Victoria? If in a public collection the specimen in question should be tested. I'm doubtful it is even goyazite let alone from Myponga.

Judy volunteered at MoV and I think a lot of her photos were from that collection? Or her own material verified by guys at MoV. Not to say the location is correct. I have an idea that Steve Sorrell may have got her collection?
