Identity HelpPurchased this specimen at a local Rock shop in Cave Creek, AZ.

The specimen was marked ... Malachite, DR Congo.
Size = 8.5 x 6.0 x 3.5 cm
Weighs ~ 2.9 oz


I cannot get a good photo ...
When a light is shined on it, it reflects a really BRILLIANT emerald green.

I tested it with white vinegar (for malachite), absolutely no effect.

I searched Mindat for Malachite and Brochanite in the DR Congo and could not 
find any photos with these needle-like crystals.

It does look like a Malachite from the back-side and a pseudomorph of something 
else displacing/covering the Malachite.

Can you scratch it with your fingernail? : No
Is it light/heavy for the size? : Normal

The seller's label is correct: Malachite, DR Congo.
