This is titantaramellite, although seems a bit 'off' in terms of color.

Out of curiosity, how do you see the difference between both?

The difference would not be easily (if at all) discernible in hand sample. Rather, it's my understanding that from compiled analyses, all the California occurrences of taramellite group minerals are very Ti-rich and perhaps all are Ti>Fe3+, so the Fe3+>Ti taramellite (sensu stricto) may just be erroneously reported for CA localities. Certainly for Rush Creek specifically, Dana's New Mineralogy notes under taramellite (p. 1284) "In the Rush Creek, CA, sample, the principal octahedral Me cation (titantaramellite) is Ti4+; in Candoglia, Italy, it is Fe3+".

I also agree with Jeff that the sample appears a bit "off".

Frank - thanks for the explanation. Herwig, I have not seen an analysis of a true taramellite from California; all reports correspond to titantaramellite.
