Improving Mindat.orgMiss labeled specimen

4th Apr 2017 14:40 UTCLarry Maltby Expert

Photo ID: 139309 is clearly a Teepee Canyon agate from South Dakota. It is miss labeled here as chalcedony from Notem Bench, Wayne Co., Utah, USA

Complaint had already been sent in 2013:

"Hello,

It has been suggested to us that your picture of petrified wood may rather

be an agate from Teepee Canyon ("Hell's Canyon"), Custer Co., South Dakota,

USA and not from Notem Bench. From the picture it certainly appears not to

be petrified wood.

[Rock Currier 2013."

and then resolved as follows:

"Uploader did not respond to the complaint letter. I and others are fairly certain it is not petrified wood. Image was consigned to the user only gallery.

Rock Currier"

User-only was apparently changed later on to site-wide.
