Improving Mindat.orgSpelling mistakes on Leucophanite page

28th Apr 2017 15:53 UTCJoshua Chambers

Hi

Found some spelling mistakes in the 'Name' section of the Leucophanite mineral page. "From teh Greek for white an to appear, its common color"

https://www.mindat.org/min-2383.html.

Thanks

Josh

Actually, it is not named as leucophanite for "its common white color" ( even though this is repeated in several references), but in allusion to its property of throwing back a white shine when observing it from certain angles (Erdmann 1840, first description, in swedish).

The color of the original material was not white but "a pale dirty olivegreen in larger pieces, and in smaller pieces with a pale yellowish color (vingul in swedish)".

I have updated the description on the mineralpage.
