Hi All,

this spezimen, ca. 3x2x1 cm I found on the dumps of the Monteneve Mine. I´m in doubt, what the white mineral is. It is on weathered sphalerite. It is soluble in 24 % HCl. Gas bubbles I didn´t realize, but this may be because I tested just some small flakes. I think, in water it is not soluble because of the climate it was found in. In UV-light 310 nm it fluoresces weak blue.

Any ideas, what it may be? All guesses are appreciated.

Kind regards, Gg

Hi Georg
By appearance I’d say Hydrozincite

I think hydrozincite usually (always?) fluoresces bluish-white in SWUV--someone correct me if I'm wrong.
