Hello,

We purchased a grouping of "Mixed Minerals" from the Erongo Mountains in Namibia....unfortunately, this one did not have an I.D tag, I have searched Mindat and the internet and am still at a loss....

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Christine

Christine, I'm sure one of our Namibia experts will be of greater help, but your specimen is similar to one I have, which is mesolite on fluorapophyllite from Palabora Mine, South Africa and not Namibia. (Some specimens from there have the mesolite on prehnite.) On mine, the mesolite bundles are tighter, more like the top center bundle in your second photo. What mineral is below the mesolite on your sample?

Becky,

Thank you so much for your response. The entire mienral is a mystery to me.....some of what is below the mesolite looks like quartz on top of something else. Usually I have a better idea....

Christine, I'm sure you will get some help here, but be patient - some people may be away for Easter holidays. In the meantime, can you take a closer photo of the crystals below the mesolite? (And mesolite is still a guess!) Also, what is the size of the specimen? Keep checking the thread...one of our Namibia experts will eventually check in!
