Purchased a box of minerals at a show, though didn't receive any cards or descriptions for classification. The only information that i know about the mineral is a broad locality, somewhere along the eastern region of North America. This mineral has a metallic luster, although when a backlight is used, the specimens start to show deep reds and signs of translucence.

My best guess is that the crystals are rutile, although i've seen similar specimens of alternate minerals, throughout the internet. Any help in identifying this mineral would be much appreciated! Thank you!
