Welcome to Mindat John !

Please read this before asking for ID's
Mineral Identification (How to - PLEASE READ before posting questions)

Your photos are too far out of focus to even guess what you have.

Be sure your specimen is dry.

Be sure you can zoom way in and its still clear.

Follow the Mineral Identification page, and supply us with more info.

You don't have to tell us which mine, but rough area helps.

Welcome to Mindat, John!

Agree.

Please give us some initial information, following the methods in the website Wayne provided. Also, better photos would be a huge help.

I think it is one of those "7 other minerals" you mention the area being known for, specifically Chalcopyrite or maybe just pyrite. And this is going strictly by visual ID. The purple iridescence in the background suggests some copper mineral. Where is this mine located that you found it in? It may not be valuable gold, but it really isn't a bad specimen for whatever it is.

If that was partially Gold, that would be a great specimen.......
