Abstract/NotesThe book summarizes the materials known to date on various features of impact diamonds, discusses their origin and significance. The review is accompanied by original data on the distribution of these diamonds in the rocks of meteorite craters, as well as in the sediments of distant ejections. The morphological varieties of impact diamonds and their mineral associations are considered, with the attachment of illustrative material on specific points of occurrence. The source of carbon is discussed, and experimental and petrological estimates of the conditions for the formation of impact diamonds are presented. The Russian edition is duplicated by the first review of its kind published in English.

For specialists in the problems of impact interactions, planetology, geology and meteoritics
