Abstract/Notes | Moscow. The noisy day of the capital subsides. The sky darkens. Ruby stars flash above the Kremlin, which have become a symbol of freedom and peace for all honest people of the Earth. These stars are created by Ural craftsmen. Moscow subway. Stations flash by one after another. In the glow of light, the dazzling whiteness of white marble flashes; the walls bloom with crimson, on which the shadows of fabulous underground trees seem to be imprinted. This is Ural marble. Beautiful halls of the State Hermitage. Framed in heavy gold are paintings by great painters. In the middle of the hall, doused with streams of the sun, wonderful stone vases rise; at some distance from them, carved candelabra in a sparkling rain of crystal. These are the creations of the Ural masters - folk stone artists. Looking at the magnificent works of the Ural stone-cutting art, one involuntarily asks: what is its history? Who was the gardener of such a brightly blooming "stone flower"? There are no books in the libraries that tell about the Ural folk stone-cutting art; articles scattered in different editions do not give a complete and fairly correct picture of it. In order to find out the true history of stone-cutting creativity, you need to study a lot of plump archival files and wonderful works that are stored in various museums of the country. |
