This is one of a group of profitable zinc-lead mines (the Okay, Slack, Peacock, Lucky Six and Squirrel Mines) working an large ore body within a faulted gentle N. 80 degree W. striking syncline. These mines are interconnected in the subsurface. They were worked first before 1900 with operations continuing until the 1940's. Ore was mostly in Ordovician carbonate rocks of the Decorah and Galena Formations.
