A silica quarry in dark gray, friable sandstone. Owned by the Michigan Silica Co., then the Ottawa Silica Co. Workings are 3,000 feet long x 1,000 feet wide (for about 1/3 length) and 300 feet wide for the remainder of the length, and 50 feet high.

Celestine found in vugs in Sylvania Sandstone as blue crystals intergrown with calcite, some occurring as "nailhead" crystals. One vug contained celestine crystals up to 13 cm long.
